July 26, 2004 -=- The Saga Continues -=-
It's been a while since any of this has been updated. Also, I'm still trying to find the proper direction for this site to take. It will probably still become a website code area for users to share their tips and tricks in website development and also have the ability to download code snippets for free use on websites.

Vaclempt is still under development and hopefully will be operational by the end of this year with many kewl features for everyone.

Enjoy the summer while you still can and everyone have tons-o-fun!

Get ready for a new site brought to you by and with triplehex.com technology. Vaclempt.com will be a site designed for those who want to voice their opinions and be heard. Why "Vaclempt" you ask? Just think of Mike Myers on SNL and you'll understand completely...well maybe not completely but close enough.

February 13, 2004 -=- Abstract Forum -=-
Triplehex.com has finally realized a need for a forum on Math 330, Abstract Algebra. I've integrated some old code I had lying around for this project; however, I will upgrade segments of the code and combine them to form a new "StallWall"-type interface. At this point the forum is active, so post your Abstract Algebra questions for all to see and aid you.

Please check it out at  Math

June 17, 2003 -=- Freedom Trail -=-
I'm proud to announce that after 3 years of not traveling I have finally taken a vacation. If you've ever heard of The Freedom Trail, then you will know my destination...give up? My travels led me to Boston; however, I did spend a number of days in New York.

The Freedom Trail is a path through downtown Boston that passes 16 of the city's historic landmarks and is about 3 miles long. It is marked with red brick and sometimes paint throughout its course. See the links below for more info.

In The Big Apple I was not able to do much because it was drizzling rain the majority of the time I was there; I only had 2 and a half days of good weather. However, when the weather was nice I went to Manhattan and visited some restaurants, but the highlight of my trip was to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty. She is a beautiful site to set eyes on, but thanks to 911 you are no longer allowed inside.

Pictures of my vacation are soon to follow.

May 26, 2003 -=- Kurosawa Saga -=-
For those of you who are not aware of Akira Kurosawa and his famous samurai movies, he produced some very kick ass movies, pardon the pun. Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Hidden Fortress, and the Seven Samurai (the most well known) are some of his films. Let me correct my earlier pun, the movies are not based on violence but do have some elaborate and well planned action scenes. Unlike today's filth on the movie scene, Kurosawa didn't need blood or long drawn out fight scenes that go nowhere. His movies are a gift to the cinema and should be seen by everyone...and if you don't agree I might just have to get my sword.

May 12, 2003 -=- El Tigre UPDATE -=-
After about 5 hours of pulling out my hair, my main Redhat box is back online at home. I will not bore you with details, but it ends up that there was a problem with the motherboard and video card. I have also developed a proficiency with installing and replacing (multiple times) motherboards and the components. More importantly the system has been fixed and now to let the warrantied repairs take place.

Inspired by my passion for fine cuisine, computer programming, and database design, I will be adding a restaurant database to the site in the coming months to help those of you who are looking for a good meal around town. Recently, I've been spending a fair amount of time in the north side of Chicago dining and meeting restaurant owners of new or not well known restaurants. I figured that my dining experiences might provide useful to restaurant-goers.

This past Friday my main linux box for my home went down. Evidently, the motherboard, an ABIT VP6 DUAL PIII, went dead late that night. When I called tech support they suggested that I reset the CMOS using the board's jumper settings. I didn't think that was the problem so I did some research and picked up a new mother board, the Tyan Tiger. Because of this situation, my weekend will be spent repairing the damage and replacing the old board; no time for website updates until next week.

If anyone out there has ever wondered about dual processor motherboards and the advantages of using one feel free to email me or leave a comment.

In the future, there will be a few updates to some of the software that you see in use around the site. Also, a few of the programs will be available to download and use for your very own site. Please stay tuned...

April 27, 2003 -=- Pack 'a Smokesses' -=-
The topic of the day is smoking in restaurants. I ran across the April 22nd article in the Chicago Tribune about a possible smoking ban in Skokie, IL. This ban would impose a nonsmoking environment for public places. Currently, restaurants with more than 40 seats are required to have a nonsmoking section. The reason for my interest in this topic is that I'm tired of going to restaurants, sitting in the nonsmoking section, and still breathing the smoke from smokers. In Chicago, there is also a proposal in mind to eliminate the smoking but it has not been approved because of restaurant and bar owners who believe that business will drop. For example, the owners in Skokie believe that smokers will go to Niles, Lincolnwood, or Evanston in order to smoke while they eat. As I see it there is only one solution to make the owners happy, put a ban on smoking across the state. That way, there are no fears of customers migrating to nearby cities to eat and smoke. Now that the owners are happy, what about the smokers? Well, a few smokers have have said that a smoking ban is "someone else imposing their values on my liberties." But what about my liberties as a nonsmoker, don't they count? A liberty in my book is defined as a right to engage in any action that is just, i.e. does not affect anyone else's liberties, without interference from another party. I've got news for the smokers, my liberties are being taken away everytime I have to breath second-hand smoke when I'm in a restaurant or bar. I guess the smokers think that they are the only ones with rights and it pisses me off. So I say out with smoking and in with fresh air! What's your opinion?

April 16, 2003 -=- On War -=-
Thanks to Mike for sending my this anonymous posting he found on the web:

I don't mind people voicing their opinions and such, but with the evidence mounted against such "helpless" and "humane" regime, I don't understand why people are so against the removal of one of the worst despots in history. They have been torturing and killing our POWS, as we have been keeping them in a humane fashion; the Iraqi people don't seem to mind--the only reason we've not stopped the looting is due to the interest groups in America--becuase of them, we cannot afford to police the streets of Baghdad b/c they would think we took it over, literally. The news now coming in showing how cruel Sadam's son is--skeletons of young girls, S&M porn , and even pictures of Bush's daughters! The last dictator who was into such things...I can't think of his name...but I think he was German...I'm sure for every Iraqi hitting Sadam with his shoe, there's a suicide bomber ready to attack US Marines in a public arena, not wary of any civilian casualties. Speaking of civilian casualties, during war there is something called collateral damage--throughout history it has been the cause for most of the deaths in WWII--the bombing of Germany, France, Poland, Britain, with bombs with no accuracy, that hit wherever. Now, more than ever, our laser guided missles and GPS guided devices has severely reduced such deaths--which are INNEVITABLE during war.

Now I'm not saying that war is the answer...no one in their right mind wants it. But our unwillingness to act in the first place (Mr. CLinton--8 full years) after said terrorist attacks, led to the ultimate in civilian casualties--at least in Baghdad we're not aiming at them nor are we attacking without warning.

About Bush, is he really that bad of a guy? He's had the worst luck as President so far--a bad budget caused by 8 years of Democratic economy policies that now surface. If the current situations can convince a ranter like Dennis Miller to support Bush and his policies, I don't see where the complaint is? Now I'm not 100% Republican, I have liberal tendancies--I'm in my mid-20's after all. But in a time like this when no country can act against a tyrant (in the worst sense) and now that the news is filtering out, the UN wants in on IRaq--WHAT IS THIS! France, Russia, and Germany can go screw themselves, what did they do but protest and complain and denounce the US as aggreesors and inhumane--

If anything Bush has proved himself in conducting the first attempt at 21st century warfare, where speed, accuracy, minimal casualties, and projects that brought water, food, necessary supplies to desperate people while fighting an unseen enemy, count for one of the most humane ways to run an inhumane operation. Never in the history of warfare has such a humanitarian effort been launched side-by-side with such a military expedition.

The lack of knowledge of protesters (at least seen on TV) show just how spoiled our citizens are. We have a professional military--the best in the world--we're the only country that I know where military service is completely voluntary: European countries still have a policy for those who are not able to afford to. Also, slogans containing "Draft Bush, or Bush is a Nazi" are complete falicies and outright insults. Watch how you phrase Nazi (what about Sadam?) and if my memory serves me correctly, we do not hold a draft anymore--I think we have plenty of willing, and the best of trained soldiers in the world who will due what is asked of them without the need of unwilling recruits. Which reminds me, since when can protestors be against the war, BUT support our troops? It is all or nothing! In Chicago for example, when protestors hit Michigan Ave, some wanted to turn around--they got too far from their car and did not want to walk back. Also they wait until after work to protest--make sure I put in my job before I protest. The protestors are persons our age who have yet to learn life's lessons, or hippies who have been pissed off since Hippie Honcho #1 left the Oval Office.

THis country has to relearn its values, shut the fuck up, and get down to business.

Anon.

-=- Code -=-
Announcing the "Code" Section of triplehex.com. I've mentioned this before about providing website code, mainly constructed in perl, for free download and use on personal websites. As of now, none of the code is available for download, however, you will see what I'm working on currently and the status of the project. I would appreciate suggestions and advice on what types of scripts are useful to have on websites.

April 2, 2003 -=- Available Code -=-
In the months to come triplehex.com will be providing a code section that will provide perl scripts for download and use on personal websites. Currently, I'm developing a weather tracking script which will act like weather.com's link at the bottom. Future projects include a polling/questionaire script, live chat, and much much more. At this time, I am also taking requests for scripts that would be useful to have on websites.

Still on the way is the "StallWall" section which is our version of the graffiti wall/guestbook. Take a look around, make yourself at home, and stay a while. More updates coming to a browser near you in the future, please stay tuned.

I'd like to dedicate this latest batch of updates to my late cousin, here's to you buddy.

Race legend goes to the big dragstrip in the sky. My cousin Ted Borowski passed away on March 14th, 2003 after a massive heart attack.

With his passing, an era of dragracing in Joliet ends. Ted was very passionate about his work and it was reflected in the engines he modified and built in his shop. Ted Borowski Race Enterprises was started from the ground up and developed into a paragon of engine builing for the midwest and its customers. Life will go on, but we will be lacking a great man and dragracer.

Triplehex.com would like to extend our deepest condolences to his wife Sharon and family.

A new version of triplehex.com is approaching. It has been brought to my attention that because of my use of frames visitors have been unable to see the marquee text below the big X on the side, yes there is something there. I am happy to announce that frames will be a way of the past in the next major update, version 0.60. In addition, there will be a link-up page available which will allow visitors to submit links that will be posted on triplehex.com, comment files for the"Articles" section, and hopefully a graffiti wall.

Special thanx to lucite for a great deal of feedback and suggestions I really appreciate it.

There are a few new additions to the triplehex.com website. We are still nowhere near version 1.0 for this site, but we are modifying, updating, and adding content every day. Recently, the "News" (you're current location) and "Articles" sections have appeared. Feel free to peruse these sections of the site. I am open to hearing feedback on the site design so please send me emails on what you think of the site so far.

The new version of this basic website is approaching completion. You should see a new and improved triplehex.com by the end of this week. I'm tinkering with CSS style sheets which definitely makes for an improved website. If anyone has any comments or tips feel free to email me, I'd appreciate the help. Last but not least, special thanx to lucite for feedback on site design. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Wow, it has been a long time since I've even attempted construction on this page. I'm still learning a lot about webpage design, i.e. stylesheets, php, mysql, perl, etc... However, sometime in the near future this site should be ready for primetime.

Another site that I'm currently developing is vaclempt.com. You remember Mike Myers from SNL, right? He played a jewish lady that was host of a show called Coffee Talk who occasionally gets upset about a discussion and remarks that she is getting vaclempt. Mike Myers' character then provides a topic for her guests to talk about, usually it's of a very intellectual nature.

Also, another thing that I'd like to get off my chest is this whole terrorism bullshit. In Illinois, the media is telling people to buy ducktape to seal the cracks in windows and doors in their house or apartment in case there is another terroist attack in which a biological weapon is used. First off, there are cracks in your house that you will not have the ability to seal, there are chimneys, dryer exhaust vents, etc...where the viruses can gain access to your house. Secondly, if a weapon of that nature went off, I'd fly over to the Middle East and bring it back to them. I say we bomb first and ask questions latter. Let's get those terrorists!
